Two weeks into the coronavirus ("Corona") crisis, I decided to stop living in overwhelming fear. I was inundated by the 24-hour news coverage of the virus. My phone constantly buzzed with notifications about the sweeping global health crisis; the public largely ignoring the social distancing and shelter in place policies; and schools continuing to remain closed for an additional four weeks. While the world seemed to standstill, I was working from home trying to meet rapidly approaching deadlines and awaiting the dreadful news that I would have to return to the office. As the number of those infected with the virus grew, I feared it would grow closer, and closer to me-infecting and affecting many of the people that I know and love. The fear was unmanageable considering the struggles of daily life were very real and present. Everyone it seemed was barely coping with their emotional health.

Simply thinking about Corona made and continues to make my throat itch, which is why I decided to change. I decided to turn a negative experience into a creative opportunity. As the common saying goes, I found my silver-lining.

At heart, I am a creative. Along the way, however, I seemed to have lost or forgotten that part of myself. But it was during this difficult time that I rediscovered my creativity, in the form of short stories. As I deliberately choose to enter the world of fiction, I hope these short-stories inspired by real experiences provide a space filled with gratitude, honesty, and courage that will empower, inspire, provide medicinal laughter, and exhilarate you to connect with your creative energy.
