A sense of reality has set in at Pierce Point. Summer is over and many people are scrambling to survive the long winter. Grant Matson reflects on his establishing order and community in Pierce Point so it functions well on its own. Conditions begin to unravel and the threat of civil war is imminent. Grant and the 17th Irregulars join forces to form a combat ready team. He dreads what is to come, the loss of his life and probably his marriage, in order to stop the Loyalists from hurting more people.
