Investigating the murder his friend John Li, a Chinese store owner, Detective Harry Bosch links Los Angeles' latest crime wave to a syndicate working out of Hong Kong. As Bosch gets closer to the case, his daughter is kidnapped by the syndicate, leading Bosch on a one-man mission of personal vengeance.
