Code Club gives youth the opportunity to learn computer programming by completing fun projects such as programming games. Youth will learn to code in Scratch each Thursday afternoon. All youth are invited to join the club. The requirements for Code Club are:

  1. Explore Code Club Content by reading and watching tutorials.
  2. Have fun and share your ideas.
  3. Be respectful of yourself and others.

Q. How old do the participants need to be?

A. Children need to be ages eight to thirteen (8-13) by the time they start coming to the club meetings.


Q. How much does it cost to participate?

A. Participation is FREE! Just show up.


Q. When does the club meet?

A. The club will meet every Thursday at 4-5 pm (except holidays & otherwise announced).


Q. What computer skills are prerequisite to this club?

A. Each candidate needs to know how to operate a computer (mouse, keyboard, etc.) or be willing to learn how to use a computer and follow a sequence of detailed written instructions.


Q. How many participants will participate in the club?

A. The program was designed for 12 children, but up to 20 can be there at once.

A. Qualified candidates for this club are:

  • Ages eight to thirteen
  • Have a medium comfort level using a computer
  • Are team-players
  • Can follow complicated written and oral instructions

Q. What kind of computer coding and programming will club members learn?

A. We use Scratch to teach the basics of programming. 


Q. Why children and not adults?

A. These days, it is not enough for children to use technology; they need to know how it works too. Coding/programming knowledge will help children succeed in the digital age of the future. Programming helps develop computational thinking. Course content is written with a child’s interests and reading level in mind.

Q. Do I need to be a computer programmer to lead club meetings?

A. No, you do not need to be a computer programmer; however, an understanding of the principles behind it would be helpful when the club participants have questions.
